- Ginger, Agartala: Stayed here for two nights in November 2022.
- Pros:
- 1) The rooms and bathrooms were clean and spacious (more spacious than usual Ginger rooms).
- 2) The breakfast is served early. Starts at 7 am.
- 3) The breakfast spread is good and tasty.
- 4) The staff is very professional, courteous and helpful.
- 5) Their laundry service is good and efficient.
- 6) The WIFI is free with great connectivity and speed.
- 7) There is a SBI ATM and a Cafe Coffee Day in the same premises.
- 8) There is a good park next door to relax/exercise.
- 9) The place is quiet at nights and sleep quality was great.
- 10) Like all Ginger, there is a good and helpful Travel Desk.
- Cons:
- 1) The tariff is on the higher side.
- 2) The location is far from the city centre. But there is an auto-stand right outside. There are no good eating/shopping options next to the hotel.
- The Parkline, Agartala: We stayed here for one night in November 2022.
- Pros:
- 1) Good business hotel with professional staff.
- 2) The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and reasonably clean.
- 3) The place is quiet at nights.
- 4) The tariff is reasonable.
- 5) The location is perfect. It is a 2 min walk to the Ujjayanta Palace. There are plenty of eating and shopping options next to the hotel.
- 6) The WIFI is free with great speed and connectivity.
- 7) The staff was courteous and helpful.
- 8) The room decor was great with modern accessories.
- Cons:
- 1) The cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms need a bit more attention. There were stains on the floor and in the toilet. Our room was 302 in case the management wants to follow-up.
- 2) The room service was annoying. They kept calling us at night asking us to place our order. We had our dinner outside and had specifically told the front desk that we will not be eating there at night. This really spoilt our sleep. We had to unplug the phone to escape the constant nagging.
- Hotel Imperial, Udaipur: Stayed here for two nights in November 2022.
- Pros:
- 1) Udaipur lacks good hotels and this is probably your best option.
- 2) The tariff is quite cheap.
- 3) The room/bathrooms sizes are adequate.
- 4) The place is on the main highway and it is easy to find transport outside.
- 5) The staff is very helpful and courteous.
- 6) The food at the restaurant was good and tasty.
- Cons:
- 1) The cleanliness of the place is just about adequate. It is not great.
- 2) There are very few eating options next to the hotel. You are pretty much dependent on the hotel restaurant.
- The road between Agartala and Udaipur is in good condition. But rest of the roads are pothole ridden. The distances and timings shown in Google Maps are quite accurate for driving between any two towns/cities. The road to Unakoti is quite winding and narrow.
- Agartala
- Ujjayanta Palace: Must see. This is the number one tourist attraction in Agartala. 1 hour at the site should be sufficient. The nearby Sherowali restaurant serves good food..
- Laxmi Narayan Bari: Should See. It is bang nest to the Ujjayanta Palace and offers good reflection photos of the palace from its rear.
- Jagannath Bari: Must See. Extremely eye-catching colours. The temple is gleaming in the afternoon sunlight.
- Sepahijala Zoo: May See. Usual zoo with animals confined to small areas. This is the only place where you can realistically see the state animal, Spectacled Leaf Monkey.
- Udaipur
- Tirupurasundari: Must see. This is the most important temple in Tripura. The state gets its name from the temple. It gets crowded and it shuts down in teh afternoon.
- Bhuvaneshwari / Mahadev / Gunavati Temples: All these look alike and all date from the second half of the 17th c. They are all worth visiting. With an auto, you can cover all in a couple of hours.
- Rest of Tripura
- Unakoti: Must see. The rock carvings are spectacular. The area is very well maintained. A couple of hours is more than sufficient. It is 5 hrs to get here from Agartala. If you start early (6 am), you can be back by 6-7 pm. There are very few accommodation option in Unakoti
- Pilak: May see. This is a very small site housing some worn out statues. The museum houses some good pieces.
- Boxanagar: Should see. Another small well-kept site with a stupa and a Chaityagraha in good condition.
- Mahamuni Pagoda, Manu Bankul: May see. The drive is scenic, but in the end, it is just a small, simple pagoda.
- Chabimura: Must see. The boat ride through thick jungle is an unforgettable experience. The rock sculptures are impressive as well.
- Neermahal: Must see. This is easily one of the most impressive buildings in India. The approach is via a boat. Take the row boat to give yourself plenty of opportunity to take impressive pictures. Two hours should be sufficient.
