White Winged Wood Duck, Nameri National Park, Assam, India

Wood Duck Assam

White Winged Wood Duck is an endangered duck species found in North East India and South East Asia. Unlike other duck species, this one nests in the hollows of trees and hence is often found perched on the tree branches, a rarity among ducks. This is the state bird of Assam and the Nameri National Park is its only permanent home in the state. There are only about two dozen individual birds of this species left in the park.
