Prang, Prasat Thom, Koh Ker, Cambodia
In 928 AD, the capital of the Khmer Empire was suddenly and inexplicably shifted 120 to the north-east to the present day Koh Ker. A new capital, then known as Lingapura, was constructed there by Jayavarman IV. Several temples were constructed during the short span of 16 years when Koh Ker served as the capital, the largest of which was Prasat Thom. At the back of the temple is this majestic Mayan style seven tiered Prang (pyramid). On top it once stood the largest Lingam in the country.
