Dhamek Stupa, Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh, India

Dhamek Stupa marks the location where Buddha gave his first sermon in Sarnath. The original was built by Ashoka, but what you see today dates from 500 AD. Right in front of the stupa stood the famous Ashoka pillar with the Four Lion Capital.
