The Jat kingdom of Bharatpur was the strongest kingdom in mid-18th century India. The most celebrated of its rulers, Suraj Mal, successfully conquered the Mughal stronghold of Delhi and Agra. He used the money obtained from his campaigns to build a sumptuous summer palace at Deeg.
